A Civil War marker was dedicated Saturday morning during Pilger's Q125 celebration to honor Parker Starliper, buried in a small rural cemetery on the farm home of Tim and Terri Barth. His great-grandson, Robert Parker Roth of Pierce, left, placed a wreath on the tombstone. Leading the dedication service was Norm Weber of Wisner, Commander of Harrison Camp of Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Pilger native Daniel Claus, center, shows his young sons how far they traveled from their home in Bethesda, Maryland, to attend the Pilger Q125 celebration. Daniel's wife, CC, is holding their son Bobby, 1, and Daniel is holding their son Leo, 3. Traveling even farther to attend the celebration was CC's father, Chun-hing Choi of Hong Kong. The long roads, few cars, and cornfields reminded Choi of his first impression of Nebraska seen on the old Alfred Hitchcock movie, North by Northwest. He found Pilger, with a population of less than 400, to be profoundingly smaller than in Hong Kong, population 7 million.
